Baltimore MD - Crystal Palace Baltimore midfield player, Carlos Morales, was called up this weekend to the Puerto Rico national football team squad for their World Cup qualifier against Honduras.
This is the first time Morales has been summoned to join the national team. Though he didn’t play in the match, the Puerto Rican side did themselves proud by tying Honduras 2-2 - a remarkable achievement considering Honduras is ranked 37th in the world while Puerto Rico is ranked 149th.
The result unfortunately means Puerto Rico are out of the running to qualify for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Crystal Palace Baltimore Co-Manager Pete Medd commented: “We’re really happy for Carlos - it’s a great honor to be called up to represent your country. He deserves this - he works incredibly hard for us, so I know he’ll do the same for Puerto Rico.”
